Christmas Concert
On the 25th of No¬vember 2009 the Felsen¬kirche was lit up with bright lights and filled with the sound of music. The reason? Retha Calitz and her talented piano students. The church had been beautifully decorat¬ed with festive white, red and gold and the aisle featured a photograph of each child that performed in the concert.
I was very impressed with the skills the students displayed, considering their ages which ranged from four to fourteen. All Retha’s stu¬dents played beautifully but I was particularly taken with Nicky Dippenaal’s piece and Zarah and Liam Mitchell’s duet. The entire concert was narrated by the children and the audience were treated to a Christmas Medley of sea¬sonal songs such as, “Frosty the Snowman” and were invited to join in a rendition of, “Silent Night” to close.
The children and Retha put in an awful lot of hard work and effort in order to create such a special eve¬ning.
Congratulations on your success:
Kimberly Calitz, Anel Calitz, Morne Visser, Anja Visser, Nicky Dippenaal, Dominique Zicker, Lillian Schroeter, Gabriel Schroeter, Zarah Mitchell, Liam Mitchell, Jean Oelofsen, Tristan Oe-lofsen, Sara Gomez, Karina Zavitaer, Paul Schroeter, Camilla Mackenzie and Jayden Schroeter.•
