The tenth apple project of the Cancer Association for Namibia and Bank Windhoek was a huge success and many thanks to all the buchters for their loyal support over the years.

A total of 8652 apples were sold for a amount of N$ 25 956-00.

It is time for BANDANAS again, sponsored by First National Bank of Namibia. You can order your BANDANAS at Elize du Toit and Sankie Klose.

Last month’s buchter report about baby Renee, who was suffering from Leukemia, passed away on the 28th of June at the age of six months. Thank you for all your support and donations.

DIET IS IS HIGHLY CORRELATED TO CANCER.
• Weight gain and obesity increase the risk of number of cancers.
• Build physical activity into your everyday life.
• Unrefined starches, together with potatoes, sweet potatoes and other starchy vegetables form the bulk of your diet.
• Fibre keeps the intestines healthy.
• Vegetables, fruit, dry beans, peas, lentils, and soya are other foods that are low in fat and high in fibre.
• Drink at least 1,5 litres of water everyday.
• Aim to limit intake of red meat.
• Avoid processed meat.
• Eat more fish, chicken, game or vegetarian dishes.
• Avoid processed and convenience foods.
• Salt and salt- preserved foods can cause stomach cancer.
