Luderitz Schools Take Part in Karas Competition

From July 29th to July 30th a science fair was held in Rosh Pinah for the Karas Region. Students from primary and secondary schools took part, including students from Brightstart Montessori School and Luderitz Secondary School. Seventeen schools from the Karas Region will compete, and the learners will display their experiments throughout, the winners will then go to the national competition in Windhoek.
Before the competition students avidly prepared, Brighstart students did a short demonstration of their findings on July 16th. Victor and Obrey from the upper elementary class researched smoke bombs as defence weapons, Jenny-Lee has made a steam powered turbine, Zarah Mitchell discovered how to keep ants at bay using a circuit and Selina and Sonnet made a chemically exploding volcano.
Their class teachers advised them to research their subjects more, re-do their display posters and write up their diaries in order to do as well as they can at the regional competition.•
