Malicious Robberies
In the past couple of months there have been a lot of housebreakings, and more worryingly, large scale business robberies.
Grillenbergers bottle store was the first to be targeted in town, where they broke into the owner’s house first and then the shop stealing money and stock. The amount of damage inflicted is still being determined.
Pep stores was also broken into on May 29th where the thieves tried to break into the safe but couldn’t so took clothes, sweets and other stock.
Netta’s biltong shop on Bismarck Street was robbed of approximately N$12000 worth of goods on Thursday 3rd June. On arrival at work the owners found the glass doors had been pulled away from the wall and the metal gate had been cut with bolt cutters, which were left behind but unfortunately weren’t fingerprinted. Tango vouchers, cigarettes and money were stolen from the shop.
It is suspected that the same people are committing these crimes around town and the police are currently working to catch them.•
