The Truth About Lies

Lies, whether conscious or otherwise, are reflections of self-worth. Only the truth will set you free; in order for me to learn this I had to lose my job and go to prison.
People lie! They lie consciously, subconsciously or habitually to achieve a desired end. Believing that there are no other means to a desired end, the average person will make up a story to help get to where they want to be. People don’t even realize they are lying because they have lost sight of the truth.
A lot of people I know live in state of altered reality. They have fallen so deep into the abyss of their own mental and emotional fantasy that they can’t distinguish what is real from what is not.
Even the best of us lie when we experience shame or feel there is something wrong with who we are, (like if you’re gay or not).
We lie subconsciously or habitually when we experience guilt – the feeling that there is something wrong with something we have done in our past.
The most common cause of lying arises from fear. When we are afraid of losing something that we hold dear or when we fear that something unpleasant about us could be discovered.
Loss of hope, deception, danger, shame, guilt or fear are elements of the personal lie.
In response to our beliefs, we engage in certain behaviour, or we resist other behaviour in an attempt to prove or disprove the lie. Most of us at one point in our life have pretended our lives are above what we can afford. What has happened in the world last year with the economic crisis was a wakeup call for all of us that we live a big lie.
Why do I say this? Most of us lie about our money. If we’re married or not. If we sleep with more than one partner, countless things…
So all my bucht, read this. Let us change how we see our self first and be true to yourself in all of our lives.
Along as we believe we are not enough or not good enough, we can be angry with others for their attempts to push or pull us beyond our self- imposed limits.
In this way the personal lie keeps us imprisoned in the very circumstances, conditions, and experiences from which we so desperately want to be free.
For this reason, the personal lie could be considered a form of modern – day slavery that takes place in and through the mind. •
