It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!
It certainly is beginning to look a lot like Christmas atBrightstart Montessori school.
The festive season was kicked off this year by Brightstart pre-primary who performed their annual nativity play on the 13th Nnovember closely followed by Lower Elementary on the 26th November.
The Pre-primary performance, written, produced and directed by the three teachers from lower school, Diane Metzger, Olga Hartung and Michelle Swartbooi went off with out a hitch. The morning began with the traditional Nativity play, with the playground as a set and climbing frames adorned with Hessian to create the stable, the scene was perfect. The costumes were beautifully elaborate, the children looked truly brilliant, the hard work in creating them was evident and thanks should go to the parents for their needlework efforts.
The wind died down especially for the occasion and the turn out for this years’ birth of Christ was fantastic. Parents, teachers and friends of the school followed a certain brightly shining star (and last week’s Friday letter) and flocked to the Pre-primary playground on the 13th in time to see the 10.00am arrival of Wise Men, (also claiming to have followed a star..) Kings, Sheppard’s and a menagerie of animals. Thankfully despite the 6 weeks premature labour, Baby Jesus was delivered alive and healthy. Mother and Baby are doing well and would like to thank well wishers on the day for their generosity and presents – in particularly for the gold frankincense and myrrh.
After the nativity, the children that are moving up to grade 1 performed a humorous take on the Gingerbread Man followed by a flag dance to the song: “Hark the Herald Angels sing” choreographed by Michelle. The school leavers took their bows and then all the children accompanied by Diane on guitar, performed a number of classic Christmas songs and Old Brightstart favourites to round off the morning.
Congratulations should go to the children for such a brilliant performance and to the teachers for their hard work in pulling the morning together. •
