The Sharks scooped the most points with a total of 206 between the three teams from the High School, the Dolphins coming second with 115 points and Whales third with 114 points.
Athletes from the Sharks like Geraldo Negongo took Gold in both 100m and 200m distance Boys Under 17. Howard Shipepe of Sharks took Gold in 800m, 200m and 100m in the Boys Under 19. Keenan Beukes also from the Sharks dominated the Boys Under 17 shot-put and discus taking Gold in both. Johannes Adelinu and Jaqueline Nonxaza both from Diaz Primary School dominated the 100m and 200m distances both taking Gold and making their team win the 4 x 100m rally. Renier Els and Ivor Stein gave their school the only two points and two Bronze medals in shot-put and long jump, Under 13’s.
The Stadium was packed by students, parents and members of the community. This year’s Zonal athletics was a big success.
