Special Visit to Luderitz

‘Never kill a dream’ a man in a row boat said. Anything is possible if you put in the effort. Erden Eruc is doing the six summit expedition by hiking, biking and rowing. His journey starts and ends at his home town Seattle. When close friend Goran Kropp tragically died while climbing together in 2002, Erden took it upon himself to complete the six summit expedition in tribute to Kropp. He started his journey on July 10th of 2007 and hopes to have completed the quest by April 2012.

Finding out how this human energized engine manages to power the boat alone was incredible to find out. Taking four hour sleep turn over’s to make sure the boat is on track and how far he travels each day is all dependant on the weather, making the distance he will travel each day unpredictable.

He is the first person to Row across three oceans and the first ever to complete the Indian Ocean. He has spent over 312 days alone at sea, and is in the Guinness Book of Records for longest time at sea as a solo ocean rower. Erden tells us the supporters who keep him going are amazing. He has gained great bonds with followers who have the same goal as him.

He gives inspirational talks to children in schools wherever he goes, in Luderitz he visited the Montessori school Brightstart. His belief is that it is important to have a positive attitude towards life and that the young people across the world should all fulfill their aspirations.

Arriving in Luderitz on the 21st of August he anxiously awaited his boat to be brought to the Bucht. He finally set sail on Monday the10th of October at 9am.
